Heroclix 300 points 02/09/2008

Here's a tournament report for a Heroclix 300 point tournament I played in on 02/09/2008.

So, after winning fellowship the previous night for the Planet Hulk dial, I was out to have some fun. I had originally wanted to play the 6 Brood team that someone played a few weeks ago, but I only had 3 Brood. So I then looked at what I could do with still using them. And I of course were able to do a Warbound keyword using 2 of our other Warbound keyword friends, Miek and Korg. The basic premise was to rush up and just swarm someone as fast as you could. On the NYC map, I was usually able to get something based with pretty much my entire team by the 2nd round. The third round was then spent with attacking with Miek and Korg. Rounds after that were spent with the Brood taking turns and pushing when necessary. It was very fitting to play a Warbound keyword (without the feat) team for the Planet Hulk dial.

So I was out to have fun and first round I play Michael. Michael is playing Iron Widow and Hulkbuster. I know I have to get past his Invuln/Imperv and if I can do that I can take them down. Second round I look and I'm able to base both of them with my entire army if I push my Brood. I do and that's where it starts. We go back and forth and I struggle to hit for most of the game. At one point I had Miek on Flurry and 2 Broods on Flurry, getting off 6 attacks a round onto Iron Widow or Hulkbuster. The odds were in my favor to eventually roll high enough to take them down. I managed to crack Iron Widow. But after that I just couldn't roll high enough to crack Hulkbuster. Despite me rolling an ungodly amount of attack rolls, I only managed 1 crit and Hulkbuster was able to take his time and finish off my entire army. 0-1

Second round I play Chris who is playing Psychic keyword, Professor X, Emma Frost, and Esme Cuckoo. I know if I can separate them one at a time I can have a shot at them. I manage to get Emma separated on a building and swarm her on the 2nd round. Positioning kept Esme from doing much and Professor X rolled around outwitting what he could to help out. However, she wasn't able to stand up to the Brood/Korg assault. After that I swarmed Professor X and Esme and was able to finish both of them off. I believe I lost 1 Brood in the process of the fight. 1-1

Last round I play Patrick. Patrick is 2-0 and I still have a shot at winning if can win pretty big against him. Patrick is playing a Future Keyword, Bishop, Ahab, and Ultra Boy. I try to swarm Ultra Boy early. He missed an early attack onto Korg but Korg didn't miss him back. I weakened him, but only knocked him onto Hypersonic. After that I had to concentrate on the rest of his army as I couldn't catch him. I was able to attack and weaken Ahab. Then I got a swarm in on Bishop. Bishop was the next to fall. After that it was 2 Brood, Korg, and Miek against Ultra Boy. After all was said and done, I ended up losing both of the Brood, but Korg was able to finish off Ultra Boy. Final 2-1

It came down to points between me and Patrick. Patrick beat me by around 100 points or so total. Overall though this army was very mobile and was alot of fun to play. I definately had a blast playing this.
