I've always liked this format. It's fun and it forces semi-themes. When I started building teams, I looked at cheap characters with Leadership that also had a good amount of keywords. I looked at SI Mole Man (Scientist, Monster, and Ruler). I looked at Howard the Duck (Defenders, Martial Artist, Celebrity, and Animal). But I had been wanting to run some Spies for awhile so I went with Jimmy Woo since I could also mix it with Martial Artist. I also had a Gotham City team built around using the CR common Robin, but I opted for this as it had more attackers on it and overall felt like the better team.
Round 1 I played Christian. Christian was playing Gotham City and used AA Penguin as his leader. He also had OOTS Batman, Anarky, AA Robin, AA Riddler, and AA Two-Face. He won map roll so we went on the BatB Graveyard map. The early part was spent positioning. We both had quite a bit of Stealth so no one could see anyone else. I managed to take some shots with Talia and managed to get Question over to Anarky to let them square off. He got a good shot off onto Cap with Batman in order to knock him off his SP. I moved Cap over to the Vine and next to Ghost Widow after that to heal him back up. It was a battle of whittling him down and at the end I ended up getting his whole team while he got the Question. 1-0
Round 2 I played Austin. Austin was running League of Assassins. He had BatB Talia Al Ghul, Ra's Al Ghul, Damian Wayne, The Sensei (leader), 5 League Elites, and 2 League Assassins. He easily won map and we played on the Arkham map. He holed up in his Start area in order to protect his leader. I managed to make my way over to him and started picking off League Elites and League Assassins. I got Ra's al Ghul and he managed to use Lazarus Pit and brought him back towards the end of the game. Captain America could not hit the broad side of a barn in this game. Luckily though, Winter Soldier and Nick Fury couldn't miss and manged to pick up the load. I managed to get his entire team and he took out Question and Iron Fist. 2-0
Round 3 I played Jeff. Jeff was playing V Major Victory (leader), Rocket Raccoon, Bug, Yondu, V Starhawk, and Kid Zoom. He had the ATA on all the Guardians and another feat on Kid Zoom that I can't recall. He won map roll so we went on the Outer Space map from Supernova. This was the first time I ever played on this map. It's fun and unique. We started off with some positioning and I got an early hit in on Rocket and managed to take out Kid Zoom. He came back and got some hits in on Talia and finished her off. Nick Fury was the next to get hit and was the next to fall. I started worrying at this point as it looked to be going in his favor. About this time I got lucky on some rolls and finished off Rocket and got some hits in on Yondu and Starhawk. He got me in a spot where he had some Energy Explosions set to go off on Winter Soldier, Iron Fist, and Ghost Widow. I got lucky and he missed Winter Soldier and I managed to use Super Senses to avoid any damage on Iron Fist or Ghost Widow. I then managed to finish off Major Victory and Bug. After that it was a matter of finishing off Yondu and then Starhawk for the win. 3-0
Overall I really like this format. I think it's alot of fun and I can't wait to play it again. I won the Clark Kent LE for coming in first. Now it's time to start prepping for Gencon so it's going to be 300 points for the next little bit.
